Joan Snyder (200)

Professor Snyder was born in London, England, moved to the U.S. when she was 21 years old, and gradually found her way to Phoenix, Arizona, where she lives today. There is a world of difference in climate and environment, but she must say she loves the browns and purples of the desert landscape.

Her undergraduate work is in English Education, and her master's degree is in Educational Psychology. It's a wonderful mix that really helps in the classroom.

Moral Capitalism Spotlight

In their essay, "Moral Capitalism: A The Ugly Reality of The Fashion Industry Through the Generations", Professor Snyder and Dr. Linda Wayerski  discuss the negative impact of the fashion industry's unrealistic beauty standards on women's body image and the industry's lack of moral responsibility. They examine the impact of the industry on different generations and argue that the industry needs to take responsibility and become accountable for its actions. They also advocate for a shift towards moral capitalism, which is about any industry's connection with societal values through commerce and its decision to uphold ethical business practices.
